NetGuard Remote Client – Features and Functions

Note: the following describes only the features available for the web-based demo of the NetGuard client. Please refer to the ‘NetGuard’ section in the NetDVMS User Manual for a full overview of the client.

The NetGuard client enables live viewing and synchronous playback of up to 16 (4x4 configuration) cameras per screen.

Cameras, maps and images can be easily combined into personalized Views in each grid size (i.e. 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 & 4x4). A 3x3 grid, for example, can include 5 small cameras and one large (2x2) clickable map which links to other cameras or Views.

Note that the option to create views is disabled in the NetGuard client demo.

Live Mode

In ‘Live’ mode, expand the ‘[Shared] Maps’ folder, and select the ‘OnSSI City’ View. You may also select a view using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

Drill down to the ‘Convention Center’ View by double clicking on the Convention Center hotspot.

In this view, you can:

  • Double click on any camera to bring it up to full-screen (double click again to return to previous view)
  • In the 2x2 view, move the cursor over the camera views. For PTZ cameras the cursor will turn into a square. Click-drag the curser to set a zoom-in region; Shift-left-click and move the mouse up or down to zoom out.
  • Single click on a PTZ camera to select it, and use the controls in the PTZ pane to zoom in and out, pan and tilt using the arrows, or select a preset from the drop-down list.

Browse (Playback) Mode

Navigation to views in Browse mode, as well as toggling between full screen and grid, is the same as in Live mode.

Using the Time Navigation pane you can easily browse through recorded content. You may access a certain segment by:

  • ‘Go To’: specify a time and date and click on Go To.
  • Use the playback slider controls to reach the desired start time. Start using the middle slider (Course Time Adjustment) and then use the top slider to pinpoint the desired start time: Use the bottom slider to adjust the playback speed (from pause to x20, as appears in the top right of the pane).

Set the direction playback or stop the playback using the controls below the sliders.

Use the controls above the slider to view frame by frame in either direction, move between sequences (events created by motion detection), and jumping to the beginning or end of the recorded database.

Retrieving Sequences

Sequences are events generated by the NetGuard’s VMD (Video motion detection) feature.
Single-click on a camera to select it. In the ‘Sequences’ pane, click on ‘Get Sequences’ for a list of motion sequences.
Check the ‘Preview’ checkbox to view a popup preview of each sequence by moving the mouse over the sequence.
Expanding each sequence will display the start, alarm and end of the sequence. Clicking on each will bring the entire View to the specified time.

Print snapshot

You can print a still snapshot of any camera using the Print pane. Select a camera by single clicking in the View or through the drop down menu, and click on ‘Print’.

Video Export

Video content can be exported to AVI format, with a choice of codecs, or as a series of JPEG images. In the ‘Export’ pane, set the start and end time and date, and click on ‘Export’ to bring up the video export dialogue window.
