Gaining Remote Control

Gaining Remote Control

IP-based security systems are cost-effective, flexible and easy to manage, which are important factors as end users strive to streamline their security systems and get the most for their money. A streamlined IP remote surveillance system incorporates high-definition megapixel IP cameras, a wireless infrastructure and open-architecture video management software. “Wireless systems are useful for remote surveillance because they eliminate any concerns about the geographical location of a camera,” said Gadi Piran, president of OnSSI.

New York hotel has no reservations...about new video surveillance system

Running a hotel is a complicated business; there's a reason why hospitality management is a course of study at many dedicated schools and institutions of higher learning. Besides all the staffing issues across a broad spectrum of services and attending to a multitude of guest needs, you must also ensure the safety and security of all involved. And if your location is a beachfront resort on Long Island, it's magnified even more.

The end user desired a fully network-based solution that would be flexible and scalable, and offer superior playback quality with the ability to utilize megapixel technology. To achieve that, CSI deployed an OnSSI-based system with a Pivot3 storage solution and Sony, Arecont and Axis cameras.

A Look at 2009 and 2010: The Americas Pushing for Progress

Source: By Rosa Chen | Date: 12/09/2009 - The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation recently reported that more than 120 national banks went under in 2009. The U.S. has been among the first to withdraw stimulus packages for infrastructure development, yet measures to counter terrorism are still a top priority for the Obama administration. Gradually, progress has been noted, but the world's largest consumer of electronic security equipment has a long way to go before a full recovery is made.

Remote surveillance, particularly for government sites or MNCs, is beginning to take off. Software providers have expanded their portfolios to include recording and management support for an unlimited number of cameras in multisite, multiserver, enterprise environments, said Gadi Piran, President of OnSSI. A report from IMS Research estimated that the global remote video monitoring and surveillance market, comprising product sales and recurring service revenues, was worth more than $300 million in 2008.

OnssI and S2 Secure Crisp County Government

OnssI and S2 Secure Crisp County Government

Crisp County Government began construction of a new courthouse in 2009. The county began working on the specifications for the security system on the project and decided the S2 system was the preferred system to provide an integrated, scalable security solution. CooperCraft had an existing relationship with the Crisp County Government through a previously installed S2 system at the Crisp County Sheriff’s office.

The scope of the project involved the installation 50 Axis IP cameras and access control for 45 doors on multiple floors. The CCTV system included 2 Terabytes of storage to a local Windows Server with up to 45 days of video archiving. Security monitoring stations with 32-inch monitors and a PC were provided in the second floor security office and the sally port security office. ONSSI IP video management software was utilized for video management and integration with the S2 System. A total of 45 doors were connected to the S2 system to control access and monitor door status. CooperCraft was able to upgrade the existing S2 system at the Crisp County Jail to an Enterprise system. The new courthouse was then integrated to the upgraded system. The old courthouse had an existing access system that was retrofitted using existing locking hardware and readers with new S2 controllers to the system.
