Consulting Firm Recognizes IP-Based Video Management Software Platform's
Functionality, Scalability, User Intuitiveness And Open Architecture

Pearl River, NY  (May 21, 2009) –  According to Frost & Sullivan, the Ocularis intelligent IP video surveillance platform from On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI) “offers the functionality, unlimited scalability and lower total cost of ownership needed for a smooth transition from a digital surveillance platform to an integrated IP-based security platform.” The consulting firm has named Ocularis from OnSSI as recipient of its “2009 North American Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation of the Year Award” in the field of intelligent video surveillance software solutions. The Frost & Sullivan award also recognizes Ocularis for its “very high levels of user-intuitiveness,” open architecture and increased return-on-investment (ROI).

Frost & Sullivan presents the award each year to a company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. “Ocularis' intuitive map-based interface provides uniquely powerful investigation tools that allow immediate access and response to recorded events and data,” said Avanti Chitnis, Research Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “Ocularis leverages touch-screen technology and is a simple-to-use, yet advanced tool for modern video surveillance systems.”

In presenting the award, Frost & Sullivan also listed several other important factors in the success of Ocularis from OnSSI:

• Ocularis provides a video-centric physical security information management (PSIM) platform to enable the viewing, managing and recording of video from an unlimited number of IP (Internet protocol) and non-IP video surveillance cameras. Incorporating existing analog cameras (using encoders) can reduce overall system costs.
• As a non-proprietary solution with open architecture, Ocularis from OnSSI provides customers the flexibility to choose from “best-of-breed” components.
• Ocularis' intuitive user interface reduces time and cost of training because monitoring and investigating video feeds involves only simple drag-and-drop operations.
• Ocularis offers advanced functionalities such as video analytics (optional) in addition to the comprehensive investigative capabilities, and an optional Software Development Kit (SDK) enables third party solutions to be integrated with Ocularis.
• Ocularis offers the option of hardware and component updates throughout the lifetime of the software, which is not possible with proprietary digital video recorder (DVR) systems.
